Prepare to be amazed by the unparalleled panoramic vistas from Keys View, the highest point in Joshua Tree National Park accessible by car. This iconic viewpoint offers sweeping views of the Coachella Valley, the Salton Sea, and even Mexico on a clear day. It's the perfect spot to capture stunning photographs and soak in the vastness of the desert landscape. Keys View is named after Bill Keys, a colorful character who lived and worked in the area for many years. He was a rancher, miner, and all-around desert entrepreneur. The viewpoint was developed in the 1950s and quickly became a popular destination for visitors seeking to experience the grandeur of the park. At Keys View, you can simply enjoy the breathtaking scenery, identify distant landmarks with the help of interpretive signs, or take a short walk along the paved path. It's an ideal location for sunrise or sunset viewing, offering a spectacular display of colors across the desert sky. The cooler temperatures at this higher elevation also provide a welcome respite from the desert heat.
